With the Murray County rec. league season well underway, only two 7&8 teams remained undefeated at the beginning of the week. That number would drop to zero by the end of the week.
The Lakers and the Roadrunners began the week undefeated. Other than being without a loss, both teams had one other thing in common, they both faced off with a surging Dawgs team this week.
On Tuesday the Dawgs handed the Lakers their first loss of the season in a game that went down to the last shot.
After the 20-18 victory over the Lakers, Head Coach David Hooper told his team “I like how tough you played, that’s a great team you just beat, play that hard every game and nobody can hang with you”
The Dawgs squared off against the Roadrunners on Thursday with the hopes that Lightning would strike twice, and it did.
For the second time this week the Dawgs upended an undefeated team.
The 8-7 victory over the Roadrunners propelled the Dawgs into sole possession of third place.
“These kids busted their butts this week and came out with 2 victories this week and made me so proud of their hard work” Hooper said.
The Dawgs (4-2) began the season at 0-2 but are now riding a 4-game win streak. They now are focused on the Christmas tournament where they will face off with the Basket hounds Saturday morning at Spring Place Elementary.
